Rulo

Raúl Gutiérrez, better known as RULO, is the renowned Cantabrian singer-songwriter from Reinosa, and founder of Rulo y La Contrabanda, a rock group created by the artist in 2010. In 1996, he fronted the band La Fuga together with bandmate Adolfo Garmendia (Fito), playing more than 500 concerts throughout Spain and in various countries around the world. They released a total of 8 records over the course of the band’s 13-year run. In 2010, Raúl decided to set off on his solo career, crafting his most personal project: ‘Rulo y La Contrabanda’, with which he recorded 4 studio albums and performed in more than 11 countries, bringing the Reinosa name to the farthest reaches of the globe. His first record, ‘Señales de humo’, became a No.1 best-seller with songs like ‘Cabecita loca’ and ‘Heridas del Rock’n’Roll’. ‘Especies en Extinción’ was the title of his second album released in 2012 with such well-known songs as ‘Mi pequeña cicatriz’, ‘Buscando el mar’, and ‘La Flor’. Then came his third album, ‘El doble de tu mitad’, which was recorded live. The album is comprised of 11 songs, including ‘Tu alambre’ and ‘Noviembre’. To create his last record to date, ‘Basado en Hechos Reales’, he travelled to California to work with the multi-award winning producer Thom Russo (Eric Clapton, Johnny Cash). Russo helped him carve out a collection of music of unquestionable quality sculpted with an almost artisanal delicacy supported by captivating melodic lines, intense choruses, and a sound that is meticulously aligned with Rulo’s personality and velvety voice.
